Claude Gueux

Claude Gueux tells the story of a poor man imprisoned for stealing food to survive. In jail, after suffering injustice and the cruelty of the prison director, Claude commits murder and is sentenced to death. Inspired by a true story, Victor Hugo uses this narrative to condemn social inequality, the brutality of prisons, and capital punishment.

"Claude Gueux" is available on Storyplay'r in an illustrated version, in an audio version narrated by french native storytellers. Thanks to our reading module, we can offer a reading aid for this story as well as for all the other ones, and tools for a dyslexic children adapted version.
