Alex Moury's class won a cruise on the Nile. Aboard the Sobek, which resembles a pirate ship more than a floating palace, the Year 6 pupils travel down the Nile from Luxor to Aswan, visiting temples and tombs along the way. But the journey is not without its dangers: in addition to the threat of crocodiles, pirates follow the boat's progress and even attempt an attack. To top it all off, two tourists who have joined the passengers are attacked in a temple, right before the pupils' eyes. What are the bandits looking for? Could there be a secret on the Sobek?
